Have you ever thought about just how much the ultra useful little AA battery charger has changed over the past 5 to 10 years, and how much money it has saved you? If you have never even stopped to give this very useful device a second thought, maybe now is the time to begin thinking about it. You might also want to give a little thought to exactly what and why these devices actually came about. The next step is thinking about where they might be going in the future.
It is pretty well known that the AA battery charger that we all know about and that many of us have come to depend upon has changed since it was first introduced to the market. All of this took place between 5 and 10 years ago. This also may go back as far as 15 years. It is pretty certain however that the first battery rechargers came out when the first rechargeable AA and AAA batteries did. Some models of battery rechargers now will also recharge those 9 volt rechargeable batteries that came out not too long after the others did.
One thing that can certainly be said about today’s AA battery charger is that it is a great deal more versatile and more compact than any of its predecessors could ever hope to be! This is simply because these battery rechargers improved as technology improved. There is no reason not to improve upon these very handy little devices when everyone that had one of the earlier models was clamouring for and wanted something that was a bit more efficient than what was already available at that time. This is what led the manufacturers and designers back to the drawing board and to their original designs.
Making the AA battery charger a little bit smaller and a good bit more efficient was the main goal for most of those designers and manufacturers. What they eventually came up with is pretty much what we currently have available to us today. The question then becomes this: is it even possible that these rechargers can get a bit more compact… as well as more efficient then they currently are.
Manufacturers are actually thinking about possibly making the AA battery charger more energy efficient than today’s models currently are. This is something that will save a few pence to a couple of pounds worth of electricity whenever you need to use them. One thing that a few makers of battery rechargers have already done is to make the recharger with an automatic shut off switch built in. This saves you money because of the fact that the unit shuts itself off when the built in chip senses that the batteries within are fully charged. This also saves your batteries in another way as well. There is absolutely no sense in pouring power into a fully charged battery; all this does is shorten its lifespan.
